Open Art Surgery
Hip hop theatre dissected, examined and put under the microscope.
Open Art Surgery is a week-long intensive for early-career hip hop artists to experiment with new ideas, receive mentorship from experienced creatives, and share works in progress with a public audience at Sadler’s Wells.
Taking place in an intimate theatre space hosted by Jonzi D, the final sharing invites the audience to critique and reflect on the work shown through facilitated discussion - giving artists a rare insight into public perception of their practice and a unique opportunity to ask questions of them, to help develop their work further.
Artists who have participated in Open Art Surgery have gone on to present work at prestigious venues and festivals including The Place, Just Jam, Edinburgh Fringe and Breakin' Convention's international touring.
Open Art Surgery takes place annually in March and September. Join our mailing list or follow us on socials to be the first to know when submissions go live.
